Northants Racers Out in Force at POWERnights

Local drivers to race at Silverstone on the evening of Thursday 8 May

On Thursday the first of four new evening motorsport events will take place at Silverstone as the 2008 Keystone Computer Group POWERnights gets underway for a second season. The ten race programme starts at 5:30pm, with Northamptonshire strongly represented amongst some of the UK’s best club racers on the 1.6-mile Silverstone National Circuit.

David Bryant from Weedon is one of the Toyota MR2 drivers taking on the Mazda MX5 racers in a head-to-head race of the Japanese roadsters. In the Invitation Open Sports Chris Porritt from Brackley will be racing his 1600cc Caterham Se7en, while Silverstone based drivers David Harrison and John Williams will be challenging the rest of 22 car grid for overall honours in their Radical SR3 and Global Lights GT. Jim Morris (Syresham) and Gerald Webb (Silverstone) will be racing their Formula Ford 1600’s against a competitive field of some of the best single seat racers in the UK.

"Following on from the successful launch of POWERnights last year, drivers from all over the UK will be coming to race at Silverstone on Thursday," said Roger Etcell, POWERnights Series Director. "With good support from local drivers and plenty of other entertainment we hope that local people will come along on Thursday from 5pm to witness a great evening of family entertainment. Spectators can even get involved with our Scalextric Text-to-Win competition, giving them the opportunity to cheer along their favourite driver and win a Scalextric Powerslide set. With the Party in the Paddock immediately after the racing POWERnights is a great way to spend a Thursday evening."

Tickets cost just £10 for adults, with accompanied children under 16 free. All tickets include free car parking, grandstand seating and paddock transfer. POWERnights Radio goes on air as the gates open at 5pm on 1602MW, keeping everyone up to date with what is happening at the event.
